BMW M4 Cabrio Competition (F83) • 2018

Purchased at a US auction at the end of 2023. After arrival we performed full diagnostics, fixed all issues, and prepared the car for the EU market (coding/programming, km/h speedometer scale). The engine received an extensive refresh: vulnerable items upgraded (crank hub solution, oil pump and timing set, etc.). Only two owners. CARFAX history available upon request.

Upon receipt, we found a sheared intake camshaft center bolt that had damaged the cylinder head. The cylinder head was replaced and professionally ported; all related gaskets were renewed. The car has not been used in winter; oil changed on a strict schedule.

Engine

• ACL Race rod bearings with Plastigauge verification; assembled with new BMW bolts

• New primary oil pump

• New complete timing set (chains/guides/tensioner)

•  Hub-slip solution for the crankshaft with a four-pin system

• Front crank seal guard installed (prevents accessory belt ingestion)

Cooling systems

• New engine oil cooler

• New coolant radiator (hot side); system vacuum-filled and bled

• Oil service ~every 5,000 km with filter inspection

• Services recorded in BMW’s official history system

Fuel system / Ignition / Valvetronic

• New M-spec spark plugs; new Teflon seals for injectors

• Valvetronic adaptations and testing

M-DCT and Brakes / Tires

• Full M-DCT service (new pan, both filters, refill per temperature protocol)

Performance upgrades

• EMT Stage 1+ head porting with before/after flow-bench results
  Intake: ~+12–14% flow increase across the lift range, with the largest gain above ~7 mm
  Exhaust: ~+10–12% increase, stable across the range

• Engine management remains stock; not tuned. The setup is in good readiness for future power increases.
